March 2003: Bay Area Parts Hunting

March in four parts: This is Part 3 / Part 1 / Part 2 / Part 4

Made a trip to California for business and took some time off to visit friends.
First stop was with Curtis Ingraham (Mr. Radiator) for a tour of the local '02 sites in the Bay Area. We had planned this for a while, however I've not been back since September of 2001.
An mint grun 2002 graced our presence at the yard.. Is this your car?
Very well organized, these yards provide a real treasure trove for parts hunters working on BMWs!
Curtis yanks a radiator out of a red Bavaria we spotted in this yard.
Curtis states this radiator is a non-german part. If you see this it's aftermarket. We saw several this day.
Not worth rebuilding, "Mr. Radiator" claims.
Down the road a ways, more cars, however not categorized.
In Hayward, we find this 69 1600 parked in the yard. Chamonix before black.. is this your car?
At the PICK YOUR PARTS, a nice 73 golf is discovered.
Cars this good structurally are still on the road in my state... only in California are cars this way.
Big toys for big boys - throws cars around like a stick with a beer can on the end of it!
Our next destination - Dean Watanabe and Double O2 Salvage in Hayward... They have everything.
A view behind the parts counter... need a seat?
Doors and bumpers
Door panels and wheels... back seats...
Tranny's and complete engines...
A car to live up to the namesake - a 1974 2002tii.
The differential "collection"... your next rear end is probably stashed here.
The guys at Double 02 were nice and gave us a great tour of the place. Give them your business!
