Ok, your first question.. what are those things welded onto the shock towers?  Battery brace. You can see the finished result on another car by clicking here

These towers would have been really shiny and smooth. Since things move around in the trunk, I went for using exterior body panel stone guard spray before painting. It's a stipple effect, matching the factory look.

I just have some holes to drill for the battery cable left.
