| As you have read along on this project, I have been
reusing a great deal of the parts of the car that were old and rusty by
stripping the rust off either chemically or with silica glass beads and
then usually re-plating them. I remembered this time to take some before
and after shots to help you decide if this is something you want to do
on your own car. |
 |
| These are the inside seat tracks that bolt to the
floor of your car. The one on the left has been blasted, the one on the
right has not. These weren't bad - I have seen some awful ones. |
 |
| Before and after on both seat tracks. The ones with
the saw tooth edge fit towards the door and engage the latch mechanism.
These I plan to re-plate to keep them from rusting again. They are not
done yet because I have some other parts to go for the "big batch" of
parts. |
 |
| BEFORE: These are some that I did that are for the
door strike plates, the seat adjusters and the bolts holding the rear
differential on. The two "tubes" above hold the two big M20 bolts at the
bottom which hold the front control arms in place. The two large
round pieces are for the gas tank filler neck. |
 |
| AFTER: This is the mechanism that holds the hood down
from the passenger compartment, along with the door strike plates. |
 |
| The seat adjusters... looking better than new. |
 |
| These are a variety of screws that are hard to
replace. The long skinny ones with self tapping type ends are for the
hood closer rod's plastic caps. The rest go to the door strike plates. |
 |
| Then when you put them in the car, they look nice. I
have to find new screws to hold them in, these are too small to redo.
They are hidden by the carpet anyway. |
 |
| The big bolts hold the differential down to the rear
sub frame. |
 |
| The hood closer rod installed to the left.
You've noticed now that I have tagged some of the main harnesses for
troubleshooting later, as well as for where they go if you take them
loose. The green wire with the yellow momentary switch is for the
electronic trunk opener, when I get that all wired into the harness. |
